My company has recently been contracted to create a brochure for Calgary’s Pakistani community. They’re going to use a brochure for immigrants to the city so that they can find out about some of the services that they can take advantage of while living in the city.
Some of the topics that we will cover inside the brochure will be things that they should expect from their landlord (if they are renting), information about job search workshops, and places where you can buy Pakistani foods in Calgary.
I have also asked us to include a link to the Class 7 knowledge test to help those who wish to get their license to drive in Alberta.
We should be done the brochure in the next day or two and it already looks really good. I hope our company will be able to provide quality printing services for the Pakistani community in the future.
My husband has been building websites for a few years now. I have never taken much interest in it, as it has never really mattered to me. That is, until now. It has now become our source of income, so I find that I am starting to take a vested interest in everything that he is doing.
He taught me of a good place to go to register domain names. He wanted me to be able to run all aspects of the business, should something ever happen to him. He thought it would be a good idea if I could sustain the family in case he was not able to. I had to agree that this was a smart business decision.
This week, he is teaching me all about search engine advertising. It is not as difficult as it sounds and I am catching on quite quickly. I never thought that I would enjoy it as much as I do, and I can really see myself doing this for a living. I am glad that he is so smart and I am glad to become his partner in business. He is awesome.
I am wondering what is up with all of the car covers I have seen lately. I mean, why have people all of a sudden decided that their cars need to be tucked in at night. Mine is completely happy being naked on the street. I think it is just another way for someone to make money off gullible people.
I decided to ask around and I found that, in my area, it all started with Budge truck covers. One person got one and then it was like a chain reaction. Everyone had to keep up with Mr. Jones and get one for themselves. I live in a very crazy world.
I remember when the first SUV came into town. Not even a month later, it seemed like everyone had one. Hmm, maybe I should get into the business of selling Budge SUV covers. I could make a killing around here.
I had the opportunity today to sit down and read my favorite business reviews magazine today. Though I don’t have much time to do this, it was nice to have that chance today.
This magazine has been instrumental for me to get the best return possible on the business investments I make. You see, before I was a subscriber, none of my businesses were making any real profits. What I mean is that they were making money, but not a whole lot.
But after learning from the successful profit systems my businesses really took off. In fact, I would say that it was the pivotal moment for me and my business. But that can be a topic of another post.
Needless to say, it is nice to sit down with a magazine and read in peace and quiet. I can’t remember the last day I had off.
I came across some online business information that really got me to thinking. We have all heard that there are millions waiting to be made on the net, and for some people it’s true, but you can’t just log on and instantly become rich.
I decided to go in and look at some home business reviews, as this is how most housewives are supposed to be in a Lexus before month’s end, if they sign up to do this. Most of them are scams, but there are a few legitimate ones out there. The legitimate ones do still require quite a bit of effort, as any job would.
It is easy to find business information online, but it is a little bit harder to sort through it and make sense of it all. You need to go beyond reading the testimonials of the people who have made it big.
Always take a look at the business guide when looking into this type of business. It will be more likely to give you the answers as to what exactly your job would entail. Do your homework and you won’t be disappointed.
Recently, I hired Steve, a manager that I found through an executive search firm. We were looking for someone that had experience in running a real world and online business who could help take our business there.
He had worked for a number of companies that joined the dot com craze and I hoped that we could benefit from his experience. This was an area I wasn’t too familiar with, so I listened to his advice closely.
He suggested that we use an E-commerce software solution that he had used in the past and was familiar with. They helped us to setup our shopping site, and provided us with support should we need it.
Steve decided that we should let our human resources department go, and instead use an HR outsourcing firm instead. With the money we saved by outsourcing, we were able to bring on a marketing manager for our company.
So far, we have seen strong growth in our income under the direction of Steve and the new marketing manager Joleen. I am very happy that I followed his advice.
Now with any item there usually is a deluxe version or "be all, do all" version of that product. I like to call these items the "Swiss Army Knife" of that type of product. Today I am going to touch upon the Swiss Army Knife of bank machines: mobile ATMs.
Now, mobile ATM machines are perfect in any setting. Why? Well, except for needing a wall outlet for power, they are self contained. You don’t need any special wiring, a dedicated phone line, or really anything else. These all steel ATM machines have build in wireless communication that allows them to work at an event or in your business with ease.
If you need one of these machines to either replace your existing ATMs or "stand-in" for your broken ATM, give an ATM rental company a call. They quite often have them on hand and can deliver them to your business or even with 24 hours - quicker than your existing machine can be fixed. So, consider a mobile ATM next time you need a new machine - they are the Swiss Army Knives of ATMs.
Well, I was looking at the list of top franchise opportunities for 2007 and I was amazed that some of the companies that I thought would be on there were not present. I suppose that is the same as every year - we have our predictions, but they don’t always come true.
Perhaps my biggest surprise was that Starbucks didn’t make the list. Now, I have seen them pop up all over in my home town this past year, and five years ago, we didn’t even have one. Now, almost every corner has one. After I did some research, I found out that you cannot own a Starbucks franchise - they are not available to the public. Guess I will have to dream of owning another coffee shop instead.
There was also a section on the fastest growing franchises that I skimmed over. I was really surprised to see a lot of commercial cleaning companies on the list - I never realized that there was so much growth in that sector.
Well, another year gone by, and some of my predictions I made at the end of last year ended up on the list. I will have to sit down and predict what will happen next year - I am sure there will be a few more surprises at this time next year.
I have a friend that operates one of the more popular shops in town listed under Houston diamonds. Now, he inherited the business from his father years ago, and they do enjoy success. But recently he found out that some of his old clients were going to San Antonio to purchase loose diamonds and they were not coming to him anymore. Since he was well known, he decided that I should be the one to go investigate for him.
I packed up my things and headed off to San Antonio. After he decided that I should go, he contacted some of his former clients to find out why they left. According to them, the prices and the clarity at the competition was better. So, I was sent to see if San Antonio diamonds really did have better clarity and color.
After a few hours of looking at different stores, I did have a conclusion - and I didn’t think he would like it. It ended up that their prices were slightly cheaper ( about five percent) and their clarity was better too.
Thanks to my research, he has changed diamond suppliers and is now building his business back up. Who knew that in the diamond industry that the shoppers would be so educated and shop around. I know I sure didn’t.
Today, I will be going out to buy some office supplies for my home business. I try to get out and do this about once per month because I don’t really need a lot of supplies, rather I just top up what I have.
Today’s shopping trip will be a little different - I am going to look at getting some home office furniture. I have decided that the office chair I have is a little too worn out and it needs to be replaced. The chair I am replacing has been very reliable - though in terms of comfort it has been very lacking.
There are a couple of chairs that I have looked at, with the most promising being the mesh office chairs. I sat down in a couple and my back quite enjoyed it - my current chair usually makes my back cry in pain.
After purchasing the chair, I took a look at some of the other office furniture. There is a file cabinet I think I will buy next month - but the chair was enough for today. I will now have something to do in the afternoon - put my new chair together.
