Car Insurance Specialist

Posted By Juicy-Lie on August 6, 2008 @ 4:33 pm

My wife is amazing.  You see, she not only raises our three young children, but holds down a part time job as a cheap auto insurance saleswoman.  This not only takes up most of her spare time, but it lets her get out of the house and have a break from the kids.

I am just amazed at her ability to keep everything straight when it comes to knowing a cheap car insurance rate from a quote.  I know that I would have no idea what to do and it would be too confusing for me.

Take for example classic car insurance: for me, I would think that it the original car insurance policy that you get.

Well, I would be wrong.  But somehow she is able to keep everything straight.  I guess that is why she is the car insurance specialist and I am not.

A Scavenger Hunt by Limo

Posted By Jenn Brockman on June 6, 2008 @ 2:48 am

I would like to do something fabulous for my ten year old daughter’s birthday next year and it occurred to me to have a scavenger hunt for her and her friends in a limousine. I though I would make it as secretive as possible by inviting friends but not even letting the friends in on the details, only their parents would know what was going on.

Maybe start by taking them to pizza and leaving a clue with the restaurant staff for what’s next? Then if they can figure it out, they’d go to an ice cream shop where there would more clues.

I think they might enjoy going roller skating or something so that could be next for say a half hour or so and then there would more clues and they would end up somewhere to do kids karaoke or the zoo. They might be too tired for the zoo though by the end of the day so I’m not sure about that part.

I am sure her friends would be impressed by the limo though and she would love to feel like a queen for the day.

Cheap Gasoline In The Palm Of Your Hand

Posted By Juicy-Lie on March 11, 2008 @ 9:36 am

With the increases in gasoline prices in the world lately, most people are feeling the crunch on their bank account.  To maintain their current lifestyle, people either have to make more money, or find a way to get a better price on gasoline.

What if I told you that cheaper gas can fit in the palm of your hand?

Well, it may be a bit cryptic, but it is true.  You see, you can get a gas credit card and save each time you fill up at the pump.   The way you can save with a gas credit card is that they give you cash back (typically between 1% and 5%) of your gas purchases.

It may not seem like much, but you can quickly get free tanks of gas by using gas cards each time you fill up.  I know for myself,  I have had the equivalent of two free tanks and I have only had my card for six months.  If you ask me, every bit helps.

Trying to be Creative

Posted By Twyla on March 5, 2008 @ 11:59 am

I was wondering if there was any way of making custom decals from home. I know you can make pretty much anything if you have a computer, but I wanted to know if you needed a special printer to print of heavy duty items, or if there were just a certain setting one could use to make these. I decided to ask my brother in law, as he is a bit of a computer guru.

He told me of some special paper he had used to make some personalized bumper stickers. He informed me that it had not done any damage to his printer, but the stickers were of a high enough quality that they were still adhered to his car. They had withstood rain and snow and carwashes. He suggested that I use that type of paper to print the decals onto.

I found some of the paper and was amazed at how much it cost. But, I decided if it worked, it would be worth it. I decided also to make some window stickers for the house. I knew the kids would love this and it would look good. I tried it all out and it went through my printer just fine. I am glad I have someone so knowledgeable to talk to.

So Many Car Covers - Business Opportunity?

Posted By Twyla on February 10, 2008 @ 4:49 pm

I am wondering what is up with all of the car covers I have seen lately. I mean, why have people all of a sudden decided that their cars need to be tucked in at night. Mine is completely happy being naked on the street. I think it is just another way for someone to make money off gullible people.

I decided to ask around and I found that, in my area, it all started with Budge truck covers. One person got one and then it was like a chain reaction. Everyone had to keep up with Mr. Jones and get one for themselves. I live in a very crazy world.

I remember when the first SUV came into town. Not even a month later, it seemed like everyone had one. Hmm, maybe I should get into the business of selling Budge SUV covers. I could make a killing around here.

Leave the World Behind – A Look at the Bugatti Veyron

Posted By Juicy-Lie on August 3, 2007 @ 12:06 am

I’ve got to admit – I do have a thing for supercars.  Let’s face it, who wants to drive the same car as your grandma – yes, I am talking to you with your Ford Taurus.  I didn’t grow up to drive some boring car that everyone else has – I would like to be a leader not a follower.

Leave the pack behind.

While your buddy is all pumped to buy his Civic, set your sights higher…. A lot higher.  How does $1.2 Million sound?  If that fits your budget, I know the car for you.

The Bugatti Veyron.

With a 1001 horse power producing motor, this baby goes from zero to sixty miles per hour in 2.46 seconds.  Leave the world behind at 300 km/hr in just 18.2 seconds.  Ask your friends if their car can do that…. That’s what I thought… a big no.

Should you get a little scared the car boasts and exceptional braking system.  According to Bugatti, the Veyron can stop from a speed of 450 km/hr (250 mph) in just 10 seconds – without veering off course.

The combination of sheer speed and sleek lines make this one cool car.  Sure it requires a larger budget, but hey, you would sure be the only one on the block and probably in town that would have one.  Buy one, put the pedal to the floor and leave the world behind…

Car Insurance Reality Check

Posted By Juicy-Lie on July 7, 2007 @ 1:59 am

My son bought his first car last week and when we went to insure it, we were certainly surprised at what it was going to cost us.

I have been with the same auto insurance company my whole driving life and have never questioned the rates that I pay. However, I was shocked enough when they gave us a quote for my sons’ insurance to check out what else was available.

I started my search online with a simple query in a search engine: “Auto Insurance Discounts.” Checking out some of the sites I found I was able to get many different quotes, most of which were much lower than my current insurance company quoted us. We chose a company that was reasonably cheap and gave really good coverage.

I then decided to see what kind of online auto insurance quote I could get since I have been an accident free driver for over thirty years. It was much lower than I had thought - so low that I could have saved myself thousands of dollars over the past thirty years. I promptly switched and am thus far very happy with my new insurance provider.

Looking for a New Car

Posted By Juicy-Lie on July 3, 2007 @ 2:10 am

I was checking out car websites today as my car is on its’ last legs and probably won’t make it through the winter coming up.  So, I was on a quest to find the perfect car to get me to work and to travel.

I decided to look at forums.  You see forums are full of people willing to share advice and opinions for free.  The first forum I came across was a Ford Mustang forum.  I quickly scanned for a Ford Mustang for sale section of the forums and quickly perused the listings.  I found some used Mustangs for sale, as well as a large availability of parts.  This makes me feel more at ease - if I need to fix the car, I know where to get the parts.

I eventually got tired and moved onto the main website.  This Ford Mustang site is cool - you can read the current Ford Mustang news, and learn what models are now available.  Aimed at enthusiasts, this site has a lot of cool stuff on it.  I think I am going to quit blogging for today and visit the site.  It rocks!
