Stress is all around us. We encounter it at work, in our families and in our social lives. You can not run and hide from it. You must learn to face it head on and deal with it productively so it does not cause adverse conditions in your body, mind and soul. Here are some tips to combat stress.
Stress is something we will all have to deal with from time to time. We need to recognize that it is not avoidable and we must cope in a positive manner. We need to identify how we deal with it and make needed changes. We need to use the energy it takes to stress out on something worth while and learn to relax.
We should also avoid the ol water cooler doom and gloom talk. It is verbal poison. In no way can we benefit from this negative reaction to stress. You can always find people to pity you or that can tell there own doom stories all day, that does not make it a good thing to do.
Stress talk leads to mind manipulation or mind garbage. It amazes me how much energy we can put into negative self talk. We can dwell on worry , guilts and anger. We can trick our minds to thinking the worse. Stop this behavior before it starts. Use this energy for something positive, like meeting a goal.
Everybody knows somebody that has had to deal with stress and they have pulled through it just fine. Learn from these people. Identify how they dealt with the stress. Let there techniques influence you positively. If they can do it you can. Many have even dealt with more.
One very popular way to deal is breathing techniques. When stress cause us to be anxious or panicked we can use a simple breathing technique to calm ourselves. Simply take slow long breathes in and out until we start to feel more relaxed.
Identify triggers and situations that cause you the most stress. Write them down and then find healthy ways to counteract these stressors ion a positive way. Try the techniques. If they do not help move on to something else. You may need to try many skills.
Most importantly we need to take care of our mind, body and soul. We need to eat a healthy diet and exercise. Take time to relax and enjoy our lives. Too many times we ignore the simple things. But it is many times the simple pleasure that can keep us going. So stop to smell the flowers sometimes.
