Motherhood

Posted By Twyla on June 24, 2008 @ 10:13 am

It is funny how our priorities change with each child that we have. When I had my first son, I had all of my thank you cards written out for each gift the day after my baby shower. I was so organized and I thought that I was the most perfect mother there had ever been.

Having more children changes that very quickly. We had our third child over four months ago and I still have not sent out the birth announcements. I have good intentions and I have them all in envelopes, but I guess it is too daunting a task to go to the post office and mail them out.

My organizational skills are somewhat nonexistent now. I don’t know where anything is anymore. If I can’t find something, chances are that one of the kids had it and it could be absolutely anywhere. Gone are the days of neatly folded laundry put properly in their drawers still warm from the dryer. We wear them right out of the baskets now.

Meeting Max

Posted By Twyla on June 23, 2008 @ 10:12 am

I am one of those few people who was lucky to find the man of my dreams on the Internet. After a move to a new city, I was lonely and I was looking for some friends. I decided to check out some free online dating sites and see what I could come up with. I knew that it certainly did not hurt to give it a try.

I was extremely interested in the sections that allowed you to find local singles. I was not necessarily looking for a relationship, but I knew that it would be great to find a guy that had some things in common with me, and I thought that if he was single that he would have more time to help me get used to the area.

I started chatting with Max and a few weeks later, we decided to meet. We hit it off right away and we started hanging out all the time. About three months into it, the relationship changed from friendship to romance. He is everything I ever wanted and I am so thankful that he helped me to be able to call this place my home.

The Full Meal Deal

Posted By Juicy-Lie on June 22, 2008 @ 12:42 pm

For the longest time, I have been looking for a way to start a business without a lot of work.  I guess, I am in the market for a franchise type of business, but I have been unable to find anything like that online.  So, since there doesn’t seem to be anything available, I think that I will create my own type of service that offers the full meal deal for people who wish to start an online business.

So what I have done is lined up a bunch of content writers, a site design firm, a professional logo design service, and a marketing firm.  By putting these pieces together, we will have a killer web "franchise" available to anyone that wants to start out online.  We have also done as much work as possible to help anyone succeed to make their first money online.

Now, all we have to do is come up with the price and launch the site and watch people succeed online.

Lazy Afternoon

Posted By Juicy-Lie on June 21, 2008 @ 1:22 pm

One thing that I have always hated about the weekends during summer is that there seems to be too much work to do.  Whether it is staining the deck, mowing the lawn, or weeding, we always have something to do around home.  Couple that with working five days per week, and it never seems like we get a break.

But something wonderful happened today - I woke up to rain.  Now, I am sure you know that you can’t really do any of those chores in the yard when it is wet, so it looks like I will have the day off.  Sure, I should get some other stuff done, but I have decided that it is time that I take a day off for a change.

So, I have curled up in the sun room, and I am reading my new book, Stock Split Secrets, by Darlene Nelson.  Sure, it isn’t a story book by any means, but I am learning how I can increase my returns on the stock market by following what the professionals do.

I think I will read for most of the afternoon - I am so happy it rained.

Calling Home about the New Baby

Posted By Juicy-Lie on June 20, 2008 @ 1:17 am

There are some moments in life that require a phone call no matter what time of the day it is.  Some examples of this would be calling to announce the death of a parent, an accident where someone is in the hospital and the birth of a baby.  The latter was what we found ourselves needing to do as both of our parents wanted a phone call as soon as possible.

We were not allowed to use our cell phones in the hospital, so we had purchased some calling cards that we could use instead.  This way, I would be able to call from the payphone no matter what time of day it was - during the day wouldn’t be a problem, but at night, there is no one around that will activate the phone.

We also had to buy a couple of international calling cards to call her family - they live all overseas.  We found some with the best rate possible, so we picked up a couple - that way we can call her siblings as well.

So, we are all ready for the baby - we just have to wait for it to come now.

Honeymoon from Hell

Posted By Twyla on June 14, 2008 @ 2:07 pm

I was so excited that, five years after we got married, my husband and I were finally going to take our honeymoon. We decided to go with an all inclusive vacation in Mexico. Neither one of us had been there before and it was something that we had both always wanted to do.

Our dream trip ended up being a little less than perfect. Okay, make that a lot less than perfect. When we arrived, the hotel had misplaced our reservations. They eventually found them, but by then, we had already wasted half a day.

We got food poisoning on the second day and spent the whole day in bed with a bucket and on the third day, my husband broke his tooth. I spent most of that day calling dental offices in Mexico, trying to get him in to see someone.

The fourth day, we got into the dentist and on the fifth day, it was time to go home. So, needless to say, we did not do much sight-seeing, as we barely left the hotel. What a trip!

In Profit in the First Month

Posted By Juicy-Lie on June 13, 2008 @ 10:03 am

Now, I don’t want to brag here, but I just setup a website a couple of weeks ago and it is profitable already.  Sure, it hasn’t made a bunch of money by any means, but it definitely looks like I made some good choices when I set it up.

You see, instead of just rushing out to buy the domain name that I wanted, I shopped around a little bit to find a registrar that had a good price.  I think that this was my first good choice, since I didn’t have a lot of funds to work with anyway.

Secondly, I passed on getting paid hosting.  I just couldn’t find a hosting company that would fit my price range and budget, so instead I found some free MySql hosting that would work perfectly.  The best part is that it didn’t add any costs to my business, so we were operating at the lowest expense level possible.

And it worked.  It looks like we will be profitable after just a couple of days into the second month which makes me happy.

High risk business - get the right merchant account.

Posted By Jenn Brockman on June 12, 2008 @ 4:07 pm

If you are in business online, you better be taking credit cards. The details don’t lie and prove that any store taking credit cards can increase their sales by as much as fifty percent!

There is also significant proof that those who use a credit card will spend more per transaction - as much as twenty percent more.

If you have an offshore merchant account, you can find some great rates for processing credit cards as well as finding ways to accept that type of payment while in  a high risk business type.

However, off shore merchant accounts tend to take a little longer to get approved - up to four weeks in some cases. The protection that they offer though is well worth the wait if you are in a highly targeted risk business.

Some people do commit credit card fraud and there are some lines of business that are targeted as being easy hits for this crime.

Getting the right merchant account can help protect you as the business owner.

Not as Easy as I Thought

Posted By Juicy-Lie on June 11, 2008 @ 3:18 pm

I have been using some quick and easy website design software for many years now, and it has been great.  I mean, when you can whip up a new design in an hour or less, you have a lot of time to create a lot of sites.

But I have always wondered if I would be able to make a website on my own.  I figured that since I have looked at code so many times that it should be pretty easy to code one from scratch, so I thought that I would give it a try.

Boy was I wrong.

Let me put it this way.  The DHTML menu builder included in the software I use can make a menu in about five minutes.  But, when I tried, after two hours, I still couldn’t get it to work.

So, I guess I will stick with the software - designing them from scratch just isn’t as easy as I thought.

Reducing Toxins in the Body

Posted By Juicy-Lie on June 8, 2008 @ 11:06 pm

With all the talk of greenhouse gasses, I have always wondered what effect all this pollution in the air is having on our bodies.  I know that we are all probably walking around with poison flowing through our veins, but I figured that there must be something that we could do to get rid of it.

So, I have been asking the health professionals that I know if they have any ideas on what I could do to make my life and body better.  Many of them have suggested many different ways that I could detoxify my body, but quite frankly, most of them take too much time.  I really wanted something quick and easy, but still effective.

When I heard about Zeolite, I figured that I found the solution to my problem.  All it would take is a couple of drops per day in a beverage and that was it - my body would be on the road to detoxification.  I found an online supplier and I have ordered some of their product to try out.

I’ll report back at a later date on how well the process has gone and what changes I have felt.  I am sure that  it will be nothing but a positive experience.
