I have been hired by one of my clients to go over their books with a fine tooth comb as they think that one of their employees is stealing from them.  So in some respects, I will be doing an internal audit of their business.

Now, usually something like this wouldn’t be very hard, but they want me to go over the last five years of their books to look for any discrepancies.  I will be looking through everything including the manual credit card processing transactions for the slightest mistake.

So far, nothing has shown up, but I have only gone through the first six months.  I hope the hunt turns up something as it is going to cost a bit of money for them to pay me to look through everything.

If they don’t find the culprit, I don’t know what their options will be - they might just have to fire everyone and start fresh.
